God's Wonderful Ones at Worship (WOW)
At both the 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. worship services, children ages 4 through the sixth grade have their own unique worship services. This new ministry is child friendly and involves our young Christians in the five elements of the First UMC purpose statement: to glorify God, to build relationships, to increase understanding of God's truth, to help others, and to share the Good News.
Those participating in this worship experience for young Christians should come down to the Second Cup Cafe instead of going to the sanctuary with their parents. Activities begin immediately at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. based on the following format:
- Warm-up activity.
- Large group activity with songs and Bible story.
- Small group activity chosen by the children. This may include crafts, video, art, drama, games, food, or another type of activity.
- Closing activity, either in small groups or a large group.
The weekly Sunday activities will provide the resources to develop a periodic community worship service similar to the pattern of the adult worship service. This community worship service will be led by our young Christians and provide training for leadership in services of worship.
